Cleaning and Degreasing FAQs
Cleaning and degreasing are the essential first steps in any project that demands high-quality results. Proper preparation is key, and we’ve mastered the art of tackling even the toughest, dirtiest components.
What do we consider Clean & Degreased?
Before we process any part it has to be completely free of dirt, oil & grease. This means that surface will feel dry to the touch and readily absorb oils from your fingers.
Why to parts need to be cleaned and degreased?
It's the first step to achieving really good results. If the part isn't thoroughly cleaned and degreased there will be discolouration in blasted surfaces and applied finishes will not adhere properly. What's more, blasting processes are not good at removing soft materials, especially heavy greases. The media tends to bounce off softer materials and takes a lot longer to remove, so it's cheaper in the long run to properly clean the part first.
How do we clean parts?
We use a three stage approach; Firstly we'll manually dig out and scrape off any thick build up of dirt, next we use an of automatic parts washer to remove the majority of the dirt and oils, then lastly, we use a parts washing tank to remove any last stubborn deposits before we move onto blasting.
What do we charge for cleaning?
As with all our services we charge a flat rate of £60 per hour and our parts washer is charged at £10 per load cycle. Get in contact for a quote and to ask any questions.
Can I do the cleaning myself?
Yes you can. We'd recommend a bottle of white spirit, rubber gloves, a bucket, and a brush. This method can work wonders on grime and reduce the amount of time we have to charge.
